Its all about the new GenX Nano twist
"Its a great little Urban Runabout." said Mr. Bose Pratap-Head of Design, Tata Motors in reply to my tweets on twitter. Indeed, it is. Tata Motors made a commendable efforts to bring the best of Nano. With the solid build quality, more safety features, fuel efficient and with a bunch of fresh features including “Infinity-motif” grille, 5-speed AMT, smoked headlamp cluster with nano badging, sporty seats are stunningly beautiful. It does comes with a 24 litre fuel tank and open able lid allows 100 litre boot space and 4 years warranty (60,000 Kms)
Going forward, the latest nano has an eye popping interiors. The dashboard is same as the previous model, but comes with a decent two tone colours. The top variants (XT & XTA) gets a latter trim where as for XE & XM gets a ebony shade while the center console is black for both variants. The seats get infinity motif fabric upholstery with nano branding makes it more appealing. The little car from outside is actually more spacious inside, the innovative packing results 4% better shoulder room and 6% better legroom makes u feel more comfortable which is miraculous.
“The AC of the nano is better than AC on McLarenF1 sports car” said jay leno (American actor, writer, producer). Yes, the Air Conditioner is always the best in nano, chrome bezels on the A/c vents adds a premium look to it. The updated instrument cluster which features clock, distance to empty, an instant Fuel Economy, low fuel warning, displays current gear with AUTO or MANual mode and AUTO+SPORTS mode.
Like in previous nano twist, the GenX nano comes with Ampistream audio system with 4 speakers, USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity as well.
This is the safest nano ever made. Still many people think that nano isn’t a safe car, the first nano might not be safe but it has its own reasons. The new GenX nano is equipped with the advanced safety features like impact cushioning crumple zone, robust side doors with intrusion beams for side crash protection and a reinforced front body structure for enhanced frontal crash safety. It also equipped with anti roll bars for smooth and stable high speed driving.
Equipped with the same 624 CC, twin cylinder petrol motor delivers 38 PS power@5500 RPM and 51 Nm torque. The radiator has shifted to front and a new exhaust system for better thermal management. Though Tata Motors has taken steps to reduce the NVH levels, the engine still feels a bit noisy is a major drawback on nano
It has got the Automated Manual Transmission from Italy’s Magnetti Marelli’s latest generation unit. It also offers a manual mode, sports mode for extra punch and creep functionality (allows car to move inch forward or backward without pressing accelerating pedal). Considering performance, AMT is just okay because of the early up shifts and down shifts to attain best possible fuel efficiency. The sports mode enables a little bit more power to feel thrill. Tata claims the GenX Nano gives an astonishing fuel efficiency of 23.6 kpl for manual and 21.9 kpl for AMT making it as the India’s most fuel efficient car( source: The financial express)
The latest Nano comes with 5 variants, the manual base variant XE is priced 1.99 lakh, while the AMT starts at 2.69 lacs for XMA(Ex-Showroom, Delhi)
Tata Motors does offers some surprising optional features like alloy wheels, sunroof, seat covers, remote boot release function, vacuum cleaner, rear spoiler, door visors, racing decals, infiniti-motif carpet e.t.c., Everything is available at a reasonable price. There is nothing to feel cheap in this nano. Overall, it’s a worth every penny. We may get cars for this price range but we cannot get a great car like this. It’s cute, fuel efficient, easy to drive, safer, low maintenance... What do we need more than this to drive a car in city?
